I think the “T” being overlooked was when BCG called the Cat’s last timeout with :58 remaining. Obviously it was hard to foresee the 10-second, 7-0 run they made to tie it, but it probably would have been nice to have that TO for the final :2.8.

I watched the replay several times with pauses. Patterson came cleanly through the lane and jammed a follow-up. Billy Clyde jumped up and made a hacking gesture several times, hitting his right forearm with his left. Thing is, Patterson wasn’t touched. Referee, who was on the baseline on the opposite side of the lane from the KY bench, called the T. He could not POSSIBLY have heard anything Billy Clyde said unless he reads lips and read the Magic Word but he was so far away I don’t know how. Very odd.

i can somewhat confirm that. bobby v on radio said that bcg had been on the refs for not calling a foul on a play patterson scored on.

I knew someone on press row during the game and texted him saying “Kellogg babbling. Why the T?”
Reply was “magic word. Bcg has been on ref the whole game”.

Bcg would be Billy Clyde Gillispie. Not sure what the word was but apparently the ref had had enough.

What’s more amazing to me was that Kellogg and CBS went to and stayed with replays with no explanation.

I agree with your assessment of the Cards. It was nice to beat the Cats. But like I told my daughter on the way out, with the Big East schedule they have coming up, they’ve got a lot to work on. I think the UK game showed some improvements in Sosa’s and T-Will’s efforts. But what happened to E-5? They’re going to have to get everyone playing well if they want to win any conference games.

What on earth was that technical foul for?

Most profitable college BB program the last two years running, right?

My cousin and I went to the UNLV game and had this very discussion — it’s less about the obvious commercialism and more about how it adversely affects a game. I think there’s meat to this theory. We saw it happen this week.

I’ve said this before. The athletic department already gets enough from the ticket buyers. Why should they subject us to commercials as well? Because they can! Who’s going to stop them?

As for bench coaching (?) let me add that the last three times we had the ball coming out of a time out (it could have been more than three but I can’t swear to that) we scored zero times. Each play we tried to run was anticipated and defended, even the option. This should not happen. I would never expect to be 3 for 3 but 0 for 3 is inexcusable.
