U of L just sent out a release advising of football coach Charlie Strong’s latest giving back to the community.

Strong and his family are donating $150,000 to a scholorship program that helps poverty level students work toward a college degree.

Now I know that he’s not the only person at U of L or in our community giving generously of time and energy in a real, palpable way for the benefit of those less fortunate. We should all be grateful he is not alone. And we should take such generosity as a guidepost in our own lives.

But there is something about this man . . . something special . . . that is just right.

I am most grateful that he’s the coach of the team I love. And fast becoming one of the beacons of light in our city.
