Bad Seats, Flubbed Lines, Hoop dee Hoop and Mo’ Mo Mo: Monday Afternoon QB/PG

Can we please talk about the Super Bowl without mentioning: A) Christina’s bungled Banner (Star Spangled), B) The word “commercial,”C) Brett Whatisname Who Lives In Hattiesburg, D) Those folks who bought seats in the JerryDome they couldn’t sit in, and E) The halftime show?

No, apparently we cannot.

But that’s all you’re going to hear here about those matters.

I’d love to talk about that. I always thought I’d talk about that. But I’m not going to talk about that. It’s a Business Decision.

Okay, except for E). I stand by my firm position that Prince still reigns supreme when it comes to these Super Bowl Halftime imitations of the Orange Bowl halftime shows.

I would be willing to discuss the play of the Steelers’ 2 big D playmakers, James Harrison and Troy Polamalu.

Except, as best as I can tell, neither was in the game.

Arizona beat Cal in triple OT this weekend. That would be in the category: College Hoops.

The Wildcats star was none other than former future U of L superstar, Mo Mo Jones. He tallied 27, including a couple of critical shots.

His post game comments confirm my belief that he would have fit right in the TWill spot for the Cards, had he maintained his commitment.

For some reason, the possibility that this Ohio State hoops squad might go undefeated irks me. Not that I think they will. I don’t. I’d just like for them to lose already, so I can stop worrying.

I loooooooove that my old boss J. Bruce Miller, is still obsessed with bringing a pro team to Louisville.

And getting paid for it. (Oh, wait a second, it’s my taxpayer money that’s feeding his Don Quixote quest.)

And, while I don’t think an NBA team could survive in this, the biggest and best college basketball market in the land, I’d love to see the competition. U of L’s administration has gotten gluttonous with hoops, taking its fans for fools and for granted.

Anotha playah for the hoops dollah might get things back in perspective.

I sure hope Jody Demling or somebody with some sources can find out what the deal is with Central Florida? All of a sudden this non BCS school is a major recruiting force for local pigskinners.

Is Brandon Bender — yes, that Brandon Bender — really running local kids down to this C-USA school? If so, what’s he using to lure them to Orlando? Free mouse ears and tickets to TomorrowLand?

Some journalist with more energy and ambition than me needs to get on this pronto.

!!!!!!!!!!!Breaking News!!!!!!!! One of the three schools in the running for this year’s superduper├╝ber recruit Jadeveon Clowney has eliminated one of his schools . . . oh, never mind.

My sources close to the Ohio State program believe the end of the streak will come in Madison at the home of Bo and his Badgers. Actually, they are hoping for a W before tournament time, seeing an undefeated season as a recipe for a second round tourney loss.
And I believe it was John Anderson on ESPN who said it was too bad the Beatles hadn’t stayed together cause now they’d be old enough to play halftime at the Super Bowl. Rim shot please.

Seedy, what’s the poop I’m hearing about the Louisville players refusing to wear retro uniforms this weekend against Syracuse? I can’t find anything about it on the CJ site.

I have not heard that. I did note in the press release that it took pains to mentione the retro unis would not include the short shorts teams wore in those days. That may have been what you were hearing about.

I had to laugh when I read that in the CJ….if not for the shorts what will be retro about it?

Tube sox with stripes and wristbands instead of sleeves?

Will Pitino wear a leisure suit?

Fred, Denny retired the leisure suit a few years prior to1986. He opted for the red crush “ultra suede” if I recall correctly.

I do seem to recall that Denny was wearing a red ultra suede in Dallas. Unless it was in Indy in ’80. Either way, it said “National Champion.”
