Nicest Cardinal Ever: Deion Branch

Revised 10/10 8:06 pm. Thanks to an eagle-eyed reader for advising that I’d misspelled Deion’s first name. My mistake.

The former Super Bowl MVP is at the game being honored by U of L.

He was available in the press room at the half. I was once again reminded what a soft and well spoken, self-effacing young gentleman Deion Branch was when a Cardinal and remains today. He’s just a good guy.

I didn’t have a video camera available but Eric Crawford of the CJ and a number of other members of the local media did. So check to see if and when a video of this meet and greet is posted.

He talked about how he got to U of L, when he had scholly offers from any number of big time schools.

“Coach (John L) Smith was the only head coach that actually came to recruit me. He walked into the locker room and I wondered who is this guy wearing spurs?”

Anyway, even though he now plays for duplicitous Pete Carroll in Seattle, I don’t wish anything but the most success to Deon Branch, perhaps my favorite former Cardinal footballer.
