Petrino Punctuates, Simms Soars, Theory Thwarted: Pigskin Punditry

So Bobby “It’s All His Fault” Petrino starts out today’s big game against #1 Alabama — he coaches at Arkansas now, you know — with two pass plays oh so familiar to Louisville fans.

The first: 31 yards and first down. The second: touchdown. 7 zip.

The Louisville Petrino Era is all over now, but I just couldn’t help but think U of L would be playing these 3:30 Saturday games had Coach TripTik stayed here. Sigh.

Here’s how bad the Big Least sucks.

Using every empirical permutation of my patented Pakistani Graduate Student Theory of Pigskin Supremacy, Pitt’s Panthers should be Top 5 at least, possibly #1.

Three guys arrested in the first month of the season, a Fulmer Cup title in sight. Yet Wannstedt’s charges stand 1-2, coming off a 3-31 thrashing to Miami. At home.

A Pitt DB assaulted his girlfriend when she greeted him with the news she’s carrying his baby, then he assaulted two of her girlfriends. This after one teammate was charged with Aggravated Assault, and another with Vehicular Aggravated Assault and DUI.

These all after another teammate displayed his heightened sense of aesthetics this summer when he threw another fellow with whom he disagreed through the window of an art gallery.

This is Barry Switzer/ national championship quality conduct.

Instead Pittsburgh is wallowing in Wannstedtitude.

Matt Simms, with that new overhand throwing release of his, stood tall in OT, tossing a long winning TD pass. Thus the Vols did what The Schnell was able to do. They beat UAB. By the hair on their chinny chin chin.

But a W is a W.

It’s more than another former future U of L QB, Pitt’s Tino Sunseri, was able to do this college football weekend.

For some inexplicable reason, I’m feeling really good about the Cats tonight. Hope is it’s not false hope.

Don’t forget to take a nap.

The Oregon Quack journey to Arizona State for a tantalizing PaC 10/ 12 battle. But kickoff isn’t until 10:30.
