Louisville Hoops Recruiting, Nike v. Adidas, Schnellenberger’s Gamble & More

When The Rick hired Tim Fuller as his main recruiter, he did so in hopes of a bump of recognition among the future Dickie V Diaper Dandies.

I’ve now had two observers close to hoops recruiting tell me that even Pitino is stunned at Fuller’s worth. The guy is connected.

The Cards are bringing in a boatload of super recruits for the UK football weekend. C-J recruiting expert Jody Demling calls it “the biggest recruiting weekend ever for U of L.” And it’s not only the guys. Jeff Walz is also dancin’ in the high cotton. Among the university’s guests will be a Top 5 young lady.

Those in the know say both programs are expecting big commitments that weekend.

The recruiting experts I’ve talked to recently say there are still Nike kids and Adidas kids. And Under Armour is slipping into the game. Whatever happened to Gil Thorpe? It’s all about the AAU circuit. High school coaches are rarely part of the equation anymore.

I know it’s nothing new. It’s been going on for awhile. But it’s so strange. If we didn’t love college hoops more than anything, we’d find it disgusting and intolerable.

The Schnell’s Florida Atlantic squad battles Big 10,11,12 power Michigan State on 9/11.

The Florida Atlantic home game will be contested in the balmy clime of . . . Detroit.

But, hey, it’s not about the money.

Anyway, at last report, only 7,000 tickets had been sold. Hardly enough revenue to rent the stadium, one would surmise.

Which is why the word is that the Boca Raton school is spending most of its $200,000 football PR budget to push the game in Motor City.

Sounds like the Schnell’s on a collision course with rust.

Got that annual visit from one of Joey the Vig’s “advance man.” This year it’s a new guy, Sal. Who was able to persuade me through sweet talk to participate in Joey’s annual football pool.

Which I advise for one simple reason. The only way to amortize my losses will be to write about the adventure. Stay tuned.

My opening weekend Sure Fire Seedy K Upset Special. Virginia Tech over Boise State.

I’m hearing that UK’s Turkish hoops recruit Enes Kanter will be declared eligible to play. But perhaps not before the Cats journey to Canada, which means the freshman will have to sit out those games.

The NCAA has loosened the rules that have caused previous injustices. Like Muhammed Lasege.

Reds vs. Cardinals tonight in game two of that important NL Central series.

USA vs. Brazil tonight in an international friendly soccer match.

What will you be watching?

few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why
but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same
