The Rick For Life?????

I am advised by a source close to the University of Louisville who should know that there is a meeting scheduled soon — possibly within the next couple of days — to approve a new contract for Rick Pitino.

The official gathering is “for the purpose of approving what is essentially a lifetime contract for Pitino.”

When and if I hear more, I will advise.

To what benefit? Such a contract binds only the Athletic Association/ U of L, but doesn’t stop rumors of his being lured away which ostensibly affects recruiting. It certainly provides Pitino with perpetual job security, but woud it accomplish more than that without some ridiulously large buyout clause being included?

I agree with Ken. Contracts of this nature only protect the coaches, who apparently can break them at anytime. There needs to be either a huge buy out OR…. as is the case for the “student/athlete”, he can transfer as long as he sits out a year.
Regardless, I don’t see why the university wants to do this. Even Denny, as great as he was, eventually ran his course.
