Commodore’s Ship Sinks, BEast Declawed & Buh Bye Bye Derrick

Have I mentioned how much I am soooooooooo very very very tired of reading and hearing about Derrick Caracter and how his miraculous maturity and turnaround have helped turn UTEP into a juggernaut?

Well I have been.

The perfect antidote has however arrived. Thank you so very much, Butler Hinkles. And Sheldon Mack who camped outside of the arena in the 2d half and still reigned treys on the Miners. Tony Barbee’s slicked back doo was frizzled from the second stanza symphony.

Down at the half, Butler ran out 31-8 in the second for a 58-41 lead and went on to win 77-59.

Buh bye Derrick. Who by the by is still a lazy ass player whose incredible talent remains mostly wasted.

I hear your question, and the answer is: No, I’d rather have Samardo Samuels.

Vanderbilt, one of them academic schools, won’t miss any more classes. They lost yet again as a 4 seed to a 13. This time to our home state Murray State Racers. Thanks to Dinero Thomas’s buzzer beater on a clever out of bounds weave concocted by coach Billy Kennedy.

The BEast is starting to look like a teddy bear. Notre Dame lost. Villanova should have lost. And with 3:46 to play in the first half, Ohio’s Bobcats are up 12 on Georgetown at the half. Oops!

It’s been a good day for ending droughts. Brigham Young finally won a first rounder after 7 Ls in a row.

St. Mary’s Gaels won in the tourney for the first time since 1959.

And Baylor ended a half century without a W.

Kentucky is steamrolling. Frankly I’m not paying much attention.

Am I right about this? Has one of the local TV stations botched the feed to miss the beginning of a Cats game for the second time in a month?

As expected UNLV and Northern Iowa are tight at the half. It’s going to go down to the wire. Thanks to the incredible technology of March Madness on Demand, I shan’t miss a dribble.

Okay, one more time: Buh bye bye Derrick.

Yes – CBS DID botch the beginning of the game ( the old ‘feed’ thing) Trust me – I’m sure that BBN lit up the switchboard – this time justifiably.. But alas the Cats did what a number one seed SHOULD do – roll over their lower seeded appointment. Does the BEeast have a glass jaw? Remains to be seen. (a mere ‘shot’ from being shut out.) They certainly had a less than stellar opening day. The SEC has no bragging rights either and is fortunate to have two teams left as TN squeeked by. Seriously? Vandy trips and Fla does what they did all year – fold when it matters. In this guy’s humble opinion – the Fla bid should have gone to Miss State. Depending on what happens today – this might be the year of the mid-major. NO argument here – love the close games. No other time are you on the edge of your seat watching games that you normally would NEVER care about! Thank God for March Madness – and yesterday – some spring weather! Fingers crossed for an equally ‘nail biting’ day – today. Enjoy, all – and oh yeah – keep yer fingers crossed for our own Ballrd Bruins as they make a run to win another state title.

One correction – WAVE missed the first 30 minutes of a regular season game.
