Some last looks back at Schnell’s opening day.
Coach took a tumble, being hit by players while standing on the sideline. The Ever Prepared Schnell on how he avoided injury:
“I have a great knack when I see there is no escape route and the adversary is a whole lot bigger, faster and stronger than I am. I go into a voluntary relax mode, and I can survive almost anything. I grew up on a farm where there were a lot of possums around. I learned the possum trick.”
SchnellenbergerĀ played his second string QB, redshirt sophomore quarterback Jeff Van Camp, in the second quarter.
“This is the first time we’ve gotten to do anything with him. In our rush to win games here and impress the people we needed to impress, I haven’t gotten our second quarterbacks into games. I did that in my time at Miami and at Louisville, using my best quarterback all of the time. I wasn’t really concerned about putting money in the bank for next year. But I’m going to have to do that or we’re not going to have any experience at quarterback next year.”
