Howard Schnellenberger’s Florida Atlantic Fighting Owls open the season today a 22 1/2 point dog in Lincoln against Nebraska. Coach Quote has been a busy guy, doing almost forty interviews in addition to preparing his team.
“This is the biggest production for any game we have played.”
Plus there was that day of practice missed on account of inclemency we talked about before. “Rain changes everything. I get in a bad mood, and when I get in a bad mood everything usually goes awry.”
All that tumult aside, Our Main Man morphed into our favorite version of himself in his final musings on today’s battle with the Huskers.
Pontificator Schnell The Verbose: “We go in there holding out the hope that the situation might develop that we have a chance to be in the ball game late and something good could happen to us. Obviously, the odds are against that. Nevertheless, our team is going out there with strength in our heart and with a wide-open attitude. I’m hopeful we distinguish ourselves in whatever the final score might be.”
And to his team after its final practice before flying to Nebraska: “I told them that this was one of their best practices. Now we’re ready to get ready.”
We’re ready too, Coach.
