It’s Schnellenberger Time

That’s right, kiddies, let’s welcome back for another pigskin parade our favorite feature: SchnellSpeak.

Oh yeah.

We intend to stay current with all of Howard Schnellenberger’s musings, opinionation, poesy, pontifications and . . . well . . . words fail me. Know this, between now and the end of the football season, if Howard utters something even mildly Schnellenbergian, you’ll read it here.

Tell all your friends, family and neighbors to tune in early and often. Heck, you can get immediate linkization if you sign up at my Twitter page (cdkaplan) or Facebook page (Culture Maven c d kaplan).

It’s going to be the usual rough sledding early on for the Fighting Owls of FAU. (If rough sledding is an apt metaphor for a school located in Boca Raton?) They open in Lincoln against Nebraska’s revitalized Cornhuskers, rest for a couple of weeks, then journey to the Land of the Ol’ BallCoach to play South Carolina’s Gamecocks.

The Schnell’s attitude: What, Me Worry?

He loves his QB Rusty Smith. Asked how his current signal caller would rank among the stalwarts He With Pipe has coached: “Oh, he’s right there with Bernie Kosar, Jim Kelly, any of the best guys I’ve had. Smith has a better arm than both.”

Coach is in mid season form and summer practice hasn’t even started.

Every coach thinks his conference games are the most important. Right? Well, maybe not.

When asked whether Troy will prevail again in the Sun Belt, Our Man On The Florida Atlantic Sideline said:

“I really don’t know that much about the league. I haven’t made a study of that over the course of the year. We get ready for the first several teams we play, then the next several and one by one after that. I’m assuming that all the teams will be vastly improved.”

Make sure your chinstraps are tightened, fans. There’s always somethin’ comin’ at ya when The Schnell speaks.
