Interesting interview with former U of L baller Derrick Caracter. (Which I know about thanks to Jody Demling, who posted the link at his blog.) And, hey here’s the link at my blog.
I too find interesting what the kid has to say about his weight loss regimen while a Cardinal:
I’ve always worked hard. When I got to Louisville, Coach P worked me hard, and I lost 50 pounds. I was on like a ridiculous diet and got too thin. I’m around 285 now, but I’m losing weight in a healthy way. Lifting. Running. I’m losing weight, but still keeping my strength.
To be honest, I agree that Caracter was too thin his last season as a Cardinal. Whether it was the steep dip in avoirdupois, or the speed at which he was compelled to lose the weight, he was deprived of his strength that is so important to his game.
By saying that, I don’t mean to minimize the issues this good but immature player presented here. While he may have righted himself in the long run at Louisville, it was time for him to go.
If you read that interview, you see he generally has nothing but praise for The Rick and his experience as a Cardinal.
