Meeks to Calipari: “I’m outtahere!”

Several sources have advised that Jodie Meeks decision to stay in the NBA draft blindsided John Calipari.

I’m told Coach Cal had limited communication with Meeks and his family prior to the decision, but that UK’s latest savior was led to believe that Meeks was leaning toward coming back for a final season in Rupp. Which may have been the case. Anyway, Meeks cast his lot with the pros. Coach Cal’s statement was legitimately laudatory toward the ex-UK star.

Calipari has been around the biz long enough to know you never know what these youngsters with dollar signs in their eyes are going to do.

I’m advised that there was some sort of irreconcileable disconnect between Meeks on one hand and UK and the Lexington community on the other. My sources aren’t exactly sure what it is, but they believe that there was more to Meeks’ estrangement from the Big Blue Nation than his very testy and increasingly hostile relationship with Billy Clyde.

He was recruited by Tubby Smith, experienced 2 bad years with Billy Gillispie, and now opted for the NBA rather than experience his 3rd coach in 4 years.

Not sure what else there is to discuss, but love the continued veiled hints of dysfunction in Lexington (without substance). Would love to see you employ the same approach for goings-on at the Yum! Center, although I won’t hold my breath.

It sounds like you need to find some new advisers…or maybe just start doing your homework.
