Cards Throttled — It’s A New Day

I’m not exactly sure why I stayed up after 1:00 a.m. to watch U of L get their breakfast, lunch and dinner handed to them? The Cards were goners from the first. Literally. 0-12. Bummer.

Okay, I know why I was up so late. Homestead stuff. I fell asleep in the recliner when the good guys were down a few runs, woke up and they were down a few more. We’ve been having trouble with our dishwasher, so I wanted to run a cycle to see if it was still on the fritz. (Is this too much inane info?) Anyway, soon enough, the Cards were down double digits but I couldn’t go to bed because the dishwasher was still running and I needed to be up in case it vomited soapy water or something.

Anyway, everybody’s got problems, right?

At some point I started blogging. It was late and I don’t remember when. Anyway, when I got through I realized I’d been writing about the travails of Memphis State, stuff I’d already covered. Except, that is, for the Robert Dozier SAT dirty laundry that’s gonna come back and haunt the Tiger world. All together . . . Awwwww! So I didn’t post my musings, because it wasn’t anything I hadn’t already covered before. You can only beat a dead Tiger so much, right? Ask Siegfried & Roy if you don’t believe me.

As for the Cards’ performance, it was sad but, frankly, not surprising. Louisville got by with significant help from its error-prone foes in last weekend’s regional. It’s not like U of L played good baseball at all. Just enough to get by some mediocre schools.

Fullerton’s the deal. Fast. Aggressive. And did that Daniel Renken pitch a stunner of a game or what? The Cards’ bats were less than silent. It was like some black hole opened up where they disappeared when coming to the plate.

Louisville star Chris Dominguez continued his woeful post season. I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. He strikes out too much.

Anyway, Louisville ace Justin Marks is on the mound today. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he can keep those stealthy Titan baserunners off the paths. And that Cardinal bats awaken from a deep deep slumber.

Otherwise it’s going to be over and out.
