Microscope on Memphis State

Welllllllllllllll now, isn’t this an interesting turn of events?

Seems that Memphis State has known since January 16 that it was under investigations for major violations in John Calipari’s basketball program. The charges seem to concern the claim that a Memphis player had somebody else take his SAT test for him, and that the school provided over $2,000 in free travel perks to an associate of the players.

The allegations concern the 2007-2008 season, one in which Memphis State made it to the NCAA title game which it choked, losing to Kansas. It is being reported that Calipari is not named in the NCAA papers.

The question that immediately comes to mind is whether Mitch Barnhart and Lee Todd knew of these allegations when they hired their new coach?

There is no such school as Memphis State. There is, however, a school named the University of Memphis. The Maven knows this. I assume that it was a typo.
