Though you’d never know it from this morning’s Courier-Journal, Former U of L distance runner Wesley Korir won the Los Angeles Marathon.
And, his time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 24 seconds was not only his personal best, but a course record. That’s an average of 4:53:9 per mile. Smokin’.
According to the Sporting News, Korir won $160,000 for his efforts.

Yeah, of that $160K
$100,000 of that is for beating the women’s champion ( who got a 16:57 head start) and $40,000 for breaking 2:09. Not to mention the Honda Accord.
Also, his previous best was 2:13:53. SMOKIN. (all of this from Runnersworld.com)
