Don’t get too excited. The word today is that, surprisingly, there’s nary a word.
I kinda just wanted to remind one and all that, in the wake of events down the road, U of L has not shut down its hoops program.
The second major curiosity of this most titillating off season for the Cardinals is who is going to replace Pitino the Younger on the Cards’ bench? (If you aren’t aware of the biggest curiosity, well, there’s really no help for you. I say, read my last posting and check out hockey.)
I ran into a member of Pitino the Elder’s posse the other morning. He was relieved when I didn’t ask about the you know who situation. But I did ask if he’d heard anything about who the new assistant might be? It’s a topic about which there has been this much news and conjecture: Zero. This is a fellow who has traveled with Pitino, and he shrugged and said, “Hmm, you know, I haven’t heard a thing. Coach hasn’t mentioned it at all.”
Which certainly isn’t the kind of exhilarating news like UK recruiting and signing the greatest conglomeration of college athletes since Cambridge U’s famous 1387 jousting class hauled in by new coach Sir William Lanceplate.
But I do find it fascinating that we’ve heard nothing from The Rick on the new face that will be sitting beside him next season.
