Seedy’s Sports Sunday, Part II

Yawn.

I mean that literally. I fell asleep in my favorite Ekorness lounger. It’s a good thing.

I awoke to the Black Hawks tying up their match with Detroit, 2-2.

No biggie. The mighty Wings seem in control now, 4-2, with about 6:00 to play. Dan Cleary scored again with 8:58 to play in the 3d, after one by Mikael Samuelsson. Chicago goalie Nikolai Khabibulin — that’s Russian, in case you’re wondering — is, shall we say, beleaguered. It’s a good thing. But I love the guy’s name.

At this point, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that my Detroit Tigers, down 0-6 in the 2d, beat down Oakland for a series sweep, staying atop the AL Central. Take that, Rick Bozich, what up with your White Sox? (Correct Answer: 15-21, 5 games behind Detroit.)

The Lakers/ Houston game is a yawner. And I’m not talking about another shot of Jack Nicholson mugging in the crowd. It’s 82-56 with 6;16 to play. This one was sadly a fait accompli from the get go.

Henrik Zetterberg hit an empty netter with less than a minute to play. Red Wings win 5-2.

All of which makes me realize that this has been less than a compelling afternoon of sports. Sorry, kids. Sometimes lemons is just lemons and there’s not sugar water to add to make it sweeter.

I could make up a John Wall rumor, if you’d like. That might spice things up. Nahhhhhhhhh!

I’m going to turn off the TV now. Let it rest until Boston and Orlando tip off. If Houston comes back from 31 down, well, I’ll be the fool.
