Take Heed, Ye NBA Naysayers

Yeah, I know, we’ve already talked about it. You love the college game — the Cats, the Cards, the Toppers, the Hoosiers, whomever — and you think the pro game, well, ain’t so hot.

Fine. Deprive yourself. But understand this. For every NBA playoff game that’s a yawner, like the Mavs and Spurs last night, a rout from the get go, there’s a masterpiece.

Which is to say if you didn’t see Ben Gordon and Ray Allen trading jumper for jumper last night in the Boston Garden on TNT, you’re the one who missed out.

There aren’t words to describe the excellence of play in this down to the last seconds game won by the Celts at the end. So I won’t. Check out the highlights.

And, at least be willing to turn on the playoffs and see if there’s a barnburner going on. It’s the last time I’m going to warn ya.

The college game, where they supposedly play for what’s on the front of the shirt, may be more exciting and more unpredictable, than the game where they supposedly just play for what’s on the back of the shirt. But the boys who play for pay are without a doubt the best basketball players in the world and the most competitive. The money is incredible but so is the skill level. And although I watched the replays just like everyone, I STILL don’t see how Ray Allen got that last shot off, let alone made it.

I’m really liking the Cavaliers right now. I know the Pistons are a shell of their former selves, but Cleveland really seems to have a team chemistry that’s rarely seen these days in pro sports.
