Scotty Davenport’s Bellarmine Knights won their opening round NCAA tournament game in Findlay, Ohio. They beat Kentucky Wesleyan 76-65. Nick Holmes had 24 points and 9 boards. Braydon Hobbs delivered, as usual, with 7 assists. Justin Benedetti scored 18 points.
The Knights hit 52% from the field and 18-23 at the line. The Knights won the battle of the boards, 31-28.
Second-seeded Bellarmine led by nine at the half, 39-30.
Lake Superior, the #3 seed, beat Northern Kentucky 75-72 in the other game of the afternoon session.
The winners will meet in the second round.
