One of my better, most reliable sources finally weighed in on all the UK shenanigans.
According to him/her, Jodie Meeks has decided to either transfer (though it means sitting out a year to play one year elsewhere) or enter the draft. This decision was made with Meeks’ family as early as January when he was still in the middle of his phenomenal hot streak. I’m told BCG was described by Meeks’ father as “one of the meanest, grudge carrying people they know.”
I’m also told that a great number of strong, flush, loyal, long-time Big Blue Backers are really upset with Billy Clyde. And have been so since way before the recent travails. As has been long reported, BCG has been a PR nightmare from the get go, blowing off charitable events to which he was committed, failing to show at alumni events, and generally ignoring the types of duties that come with being the coach of the highest profile school in college hoopdom. Gillispie’s shortness with Jeannine Edwards and Tom Leach has been especially embarrasing.

They’d be better off getting Meeks to stay and getting rid of BCG.
I would think that if Meeks leaves, AND if he blames it on Billy G, little Mitch Barnhart would have perfect justification to send Billy back to Texas. A state totally ignorant of basketball. A safe haven, if you will, for a strange coach to do as he pleases.
