Fed Ex State Tigers

I just discovered that Memphis State seriously considered honoring the commitment by Federal Express to its program in a very palpable way. By wearing the company’s  colors, purple and orange unis, for a home game against SMU.

Apparently the Tiger fan base expressed its displeasure enough that the the athletic administration realized it wasn’t ready to completely sell its entire soul. The idea was canned. A good thing.

What I also know is that if the C-USA power had indeed proceeded with the plan, it wouldn’t have taken a nanosecond for U of L AD Tom Jurich to ask himself, “What can Brown do for me?” And U of L would have taken the court in the upcoming pivotal nationally-televised game against Marquette wearing brown and yellow unis.

Gimme a B. Gimme an R. Gimme an O. Gimme a W. Gimme and N.

Hey, if the two teams fought their way to the national championship game, it would be a UPS vs. Fed Ex Smackdown.

I don’t see why you are shocked by the idea of a college wearing corporate colors. I mean doesn’t Adidas tell U of L what colors to where, and when?

General you are way off base. Sure UofL has a contract with Adidas but the uniforms are always some version of white, red and black which by an amazing coincidence happen to be the school’s athletic colors. You have seen too many Oliver Stone flicks.
