Latarrius Thomas has apparently enrolled at Eastern Michigan, where he is reunited with former DC Ron English, now the head coach in Ypsilanti. And, to the best of our knowledge, U of L’s athletic administration has not granted him a release.
Which means that Thomas wanted out so badly and to play for English to the extent he’s willing to sit out two seasons, and lose a season of eligibility, to do so.
If there is more definitive evidence confirming the disarray in Louisville’s football program, you’re gonna have to show it to me. Thomas, by most accounts, is a really decent kid who has faced legitimate adversity in his young life, handling it with a maturity beyond his years.
Massa Kragthorpe’s duplicity remains unconscionably manifest. According to Wikipedia, “He (Kragthorpe) was recruited by Bill Kelly to play at Eastern New Mexico University, where he played quarterback in 1983 and ’84. When Kelly left ENMU for West Texas State (now West Texas A&M University), Kragthorpe followed him. After sitting out the 1985 season, he played in 1986 and ’87.”
Shame on you, Steve Kragthorpe.
The legit question now is how many other players will follow? Unlike basketball, there is no reason for a pigskinner to transfer in the middle of the year. (Other than getting in an extra spring practice with a new school.) He would still have to sit out next season. Unless of course he isn’t given a release by those compassionate powers at U of L, forcing the player to sit out two campaigns.
