Two Hours To Tip Off

The DVR is set. I’m showered, dressed and, of course, waiting for my better half to get ready so we can head out to the Big Game. I’m of Social Security age. So how come on the day of the U of L/ UK game, I revert to that 13 year old sitting in the bed room with my dad listening to the ‘59 game on the radio?

That’s why this one’s different, whether you’re red or blue.

My internal eternal pessimist thinks Kentucky is going to upset the Cards, who, for some unfathomable reason, are 7-8 point favorites. That part of me that wants to believe the Cards will get it together conjures a Louisville win, possibly even, inexplicably, a big one. Though there is no empirical evidence to support the latter theory.

I started this post, thinking I’d make a prediction. What’s the point? My stomach is turning somersaults. I’ve taken too many Motrin for this headache. This is the one game each year that, frankly, is best savored, win or lose, when it’s over. Then I can move on to real life. And, I got no clue.

Tip it off.
