Bring that dynamite and a crane/ Blow it up/ Start all over again/ Only you know/ How I loathe/ This place called Tobacco Road
Oh where are the Nashville Teens when we really need them?
There’s always been this not so friendly rivalry in college hoops between Kentuckiana and Tobacco Road. We say the Cats, Card, Hoosiers and Toppers play consistently better ball and have more tradition than the Tar Heels, Blue Devils, Demon Deacons and Wolfpack. They say it’s vice versa.
Alas. This year, they be right and we be wrong.
If you’ve watched any ball this year, one thing is defiantly clear. It is saddening and maddenign to report that North Carolina and Duke — yes, my friends those loathsome Blue Devils — are far and away the best two teams in the land. It ain’t even close at this juncture.
What they did to Purdue and Michigan State is the type of beatdown that Cards and Cats fans would only wish on the Cats and Cards. While expected Wake’s win over IU was bracing.
Let’s hope the season changes things for the locals. I’m not optimistic.
